Early Prevention
Our office is very family oriented and understands that “early prevention” is important to good oral health. Parents or Caregivers are introduced to the care of their children’s teeth as early as 6 months of age. During their visit they will learn about diet, oral health habits, home care, fluoride use, and the importance of routine dental visits.
Our children’s specialist understands that there are different levels of cooperation depending on the age and maturity of each child. So each treatment appointment is scheduled for each patient’s needs. Sometimes the doctor may recommend conscious sedation, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), or a combination of both in order to treat your child’s dental needs. Our goal is to help your child be calm and relaxed so to assist and permit the highest quality of care under the safest conditions possible. In those cases where treatment is unsuccessful, general anesthesia may be recommended to permit treatment to be accomplished.
To protect your child’s teeth from cavities, you need to:

Make healthy food, snack, and drink choices on a daily basis.

Clean your baby’s mouth or brush their teeth on a daily basis.

Take your child to the dentist for their regular dental visits.

Clean your child’s teeth after giving them any medicines as they contain sweeteners that can cause tooth decay.
